Hello,
I am Michelle Dickler, DVM, and as owner I would like to personally welcome you to our website and tell you a little about our practice and myself.
As long as I can remember I’ve always had a love for animals and a desire to be a Veterinarian. As a child my family adopted a stray dog while living in Stone Mountain. She was a small mixed breed dog named Bandit. I dress her up in doll clothes when I was a little girl and as I got older and was able to drive I took her everywhere I could.
While attending Parkview High School, our family adopted our cat from family friends and we named him Smokey – Smokey and the Bandit.
After graduating from high school my parents took care of Smokey and the Bandit for me while I attended college. I always looked forward to coming home, spending as much time as possible with my pets and taking Bandit with me wherever I could.
While I was attending the University of Georgia to complete my undergraduate degree, Bandit became very sick. After all that could be done for her was done, we made the difficult decision to have her euthanized. Even though this was the best decision for her, it was very difficult for me because I could not be with her.
My relationship with Bandit deepened my appreciation for animals, helped me realize how much our senior pets have to offer, and influenced my desire to improve the quality and duration of life for senior pets.
Our practice at American Heritage Animal Hospital has a special focus on nutrition and ensuring our pets are fed properly for their life stages and/or disease states.
We also have a deep investment in pain management. Our patients cannot tell us what wrong or how bad something hurts so we work with owners to learn to recognize the signs and treat our pets together.
We do everything we can to help your pets live long healthy lives.
We are here to help your pets no matter what your animal needs and we welcome you to trust us with your pet’s healthcare for their lifetime.
